Community Education

CTICommunity Education Programs

The Humane Society believes that by the provision of quality community education programs on various animal welfare topics, we can create a society where every pet is a wanted pet.

Early Childhood Education
HSSCM staff members visit pre-school and early elementary school classrooms, offering our curriculum on basic pet care needs and dog bite prevention to children, free of charge. To find out about having HSSCM visit your classroom or to learn more about the curricula, please email cbammer@hs-scm.org.

Educational Shelter Tours
Do you have a group of youth (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, church group, etc.) who need a service project? HSSCM will schedule a behind-the-scenes shelter tour and the chance to speak with our behaviorist or animal care staff member. Groups are asked to collect donations from the agency’s wish list so they can learn how we put those items to good use! Please call 269.963.1796, ext. 10 to schedule your tour.

Canine Training Institute
HSSCM’s Canine Training Institute is the best place for you and your best friend to learn new things together. To learn more about the Institute’s offerings, including basic Dog Obedience and Puppy Kindergarten classes, click here.
